Founded by by award-winning Hip-Hop artist and creative strategist Red Shaydez, MJS is a hub and one-stop shop for all independent musicians and creatives. Services include artist development and educational training throughout the music landscape.
We offer:
MusicJumpstart is an intensive artist development bootcamp. Designed for emerging and independent artists ready to take their careers to the next level, this hands-on program blends music industry education, brand building, and strategic planning. Participants will gain the tools to develop their unique artistry, execute effective album rollouts, sharpen their performance and media presence, and navigate the music business with confidence. With Red Shaydez’s signature self-made, self-managed approach at the core, MusicJumpstart offers real-world insights, 1:1 mentorship, guest expert sessions, and a community of rising talent—all in a supportive, no-fluff environment. Whether you’re preparing for your first release or leveling up your brand, MusicJumpstart is your blueprint to becoming a well-rounded, empowered artist.
The Artist Development Bootcamp is free to cohort members thanks to contributions from our program sponsors and donations from the community!
The inaugural program takes place over the course of 3-4 days. This could change in the future.
Two days are dedicated to a series of artist focused programming. The third day is a dedicated 'MEDIA DAY' offering artists professional materials such as headshots, media kits, and performance videos.
All artists and creatives are encouraged to apply to the program. However, our priority is emerging artists from underrepresented communities. By investing in underrepresented artists and activating community spaces, this program not only supports individual growth but also strengthens Boston’s cultural and creative ecosystem for the future. We plan to expand our program’s reach and our services in the future as we grow.
We strongly encourage artists and creatives to apply to our artist development program again if they were not chosen for the current year’s cohort. We look forward to hearing about your growth between application cycles. As our team grows and funding increases we look forward to supporting larger cohorts in the future.
Due to limited program capacity not all applicants can be admitted to the cohort. However, there are so many promising applicants that we want to give an opportunity to. In the case that we are able to add additional slots or a chosen member has to pull out of the program we will look to our waitlisted applicants to fill spots.
We are always open to collaborating with industry experts looking to share their expertise with emerging artists and creatives. We encourage potential collaborators to reach out to us at Info@MusicJumpstart.org to pitch their session/course topic to us.
You can also volunteer with MJS. We have a year round open enrollment form on our website here you can fill out our volunteer application. When we have events or programs for which we need extra support we review and reach out to applicants on this list first.
